From a young age, most Norwegians participate in cross country skiing, either through family outings and holidays, or with tours organized by public schools. Cross country skiing is embedded in Norwegian culture. For that reason, cross country skiing is the unquestioned National Sport of Norway.

Folkeparken – The people’s park in Harstad
Folkeparken was opened in the 50’s as a gift to the people of Harstad, hence its name – the people’s park. Situated just on the outskirts of town, stretching over a massive area, the park provides easy access to nature, along with designated ski tracks – perfect conditions for a skiing adventure.
Glide through the snow on your way to one of the “Gapahuks” in the park; a traditional wilderness shelter, for a bit of respite around the firepit before making your way back from the winter wonderland.
